Societal Challenge Themes: as part of the University’s commitment to excellence with impact, it groups a significant part of its research under institutional challenge themes that address key societal issues. The societal theme for 2009/10 was ‘ageing and health’. The theme for 2010/11 is sustainability. The judging panel will be made up of Newcastle University representatives and Amateur Photographer editorial staff. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
